Welcome back, AK Class of 2022!
I am looking forward to this new school year with you, and to the ones that will follow. I hope that we can build a homeroom with strong bonds and a sense of fun. To get the most out of our time together, let's all pledge to participate in all the activities, respect each other, and support one another until we all walk the graduation stage together and, I hope, beyond. On this page, I'll be posting anything that I think might help you, from college application resources to community service to the nuts and bolts at AK. Please let me know what you might find helpful as well. Make sure you go ahead and sign up for the Remind as soon as possible. Then scroll to the bottom for the link to the Code of Conduct and review that. I've also included some videos I think are good food for thought. |
Always a good read/listen:

Marc Mero is a retired pro wrestler with a painful history. His words are powerful and important.
Derek Redmond's 1992 Olympic run is an amazing testament to perseverance and to love. Warning: you'll likely get a little teary.
And, of course, I could not leave out Ms. Rowling (Harry Potter fan here), whose words on failure are wise.
Mr. Rogers was just the best guy. His commencement speech at Dartmouth is full of wisdom and encouragement we still need today.
This is just a great reminder of the power of positive, uplifting words. What can we do each day to lift others up and offer the light of encouragement on a bad day?
Les Brown reminds us that "Someone's opinion of you does not have to become your reality." We can be anything we want to be.
